I'm a complete novice at this and every time I go to use a screen I've burned (two time to be exact) the ink either doesn't pass through at all or I get a partial print. Is this because I've overexposed it or I didn't wash it out enough( I use a garden hose)? I've tried varying the exposure times and all. What causes this? I'm like frantic thinking I need to take an IQ test to prove that I'm not as dumb as this! Thanks, Ryan.

Re: Keep doing something wrong...
Thu, March 22, 2007 - 10:20 PMCould be over exposing, or maybe just not enough elbow grease when washing the screen. Try rubbing "stubborn" parts of the screen with a stiff brush or even the scrubby side of a sponge. If properly exposed, you shouldnt have to worry about rubbing out emulsion that's *suposed* to be there.

Mon, April 9, 2007 - 1:58 PMis there a nozzle on the hose?
that will help with elbow grease! with low flow water though you will have to scrub some parts a bunch regardless (a regular garden hose has little pressure)

Re: Keep doing something wrong...
Tue, May 8, 2007 - 9:11 PMRyan, most likely you are underexposing your stencil. If underexposed the emulsion on the inside of the screen will run back into the print area and create a clear scum over the areas that should be open.
You can learn more about exposure and such at screenprintinganswers.com online.
