i have this main problem with my screenprints.. i do my own screens and i use IKEA fabrics and it works pretty well, the only problem is that i fix them on wood with a clipshooter (if you don't get what im saying click: images.google.it/images the problem is it's not super firm, and by the time i pass the ink, the fabric moves and the final design comes out sloopy and unprecise.. do you have any advice on fixing the fabric super firm?? a link or something? thanks!

Re: how do you fix the fabric firm??
Mon, November 19, 2007 - 10:59 AMyou are probably tacking or stapling the fabric in a clockwise or linear fashion?
you need to tack the fabric on with push pins first
then start stapling the fabric from the center out on all sides
turning the frame as you go.
staple one side then another and another pulling the fabric tightly so that you get an even pull on the fabric.

Re: how do you fix the fabric firm??
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 4:07 PMI stretched my own screen soon after starting screenprinting. I soon learned that it costs about the same to buy machine stretched screens from a local screenprint supply store. That solved a lot of problems for me, from exposure to print to washout. -

Re: how do you fix the fabric firm??
Sun, January 13, 2008 - 7:31 PMI switched to twist-locking metal frames early on, but I seem to remember a type of adhesive that could be painted over the mesh along the frame after stapling. You could probably use any fairly thin glue, just test it first to make sure it won't be affected by your ink or screen cleaner.
Buona fortuna...
